“There is nothing I would not do for those who are really my friends. I have no notion of loving people by halves, it is not in my nature.” This quote from the witty Jane Austen is perfectly appropriate when talking about the bond between the cast members of this year's Drama Club performance of Pride and Prejudice. When one walks into their rehearsal space, one can certainly tell that everyone cares for each other wholeheartedly.
After asking most of the cast questions about the characters and what the play is about, there is no doubt that the show will be a smashing success. There are characters, both villainous and admiral, such as Elizabeth Bennet.
The classic play is set in 19th century London and the storyline is considered one of the first uses of the enemies to lovers trope. It follows headstrong Elizabeth Bennett (Hadley Boyle) and equally as daunting Mr. Darcy (Milo Hasak). Surrounding the progression of their love story, Elizabeth’s sisters gain love interests of their own. Of course, there is also the unforgettable Mr. and Mrs. Bennett who strive to orchestrate the marriages of their children and are always pouring out love for the girls.
The director of the show, Lily Marcotte, was very excited to get started and loves it when an actor “figures out something important about a character and a lightbulb sort of goes off”. She has loved getting to work with such a supportive cast and cooperative crew.
The show is going to be live-streamed on May 20, 21, and 22 The director of the show, Lily Marcotte, was elated to work on this play and has loved getting to work with such a supportive cast and crew.
