The 67th annual Grammy Awards took place on Feb. 2 at Crypto Arena, hosted by Trevor Noah for the fifth consecutive year.

This year's Grammys were a celebration of history and of contemporary music. For the first time since 1997, the Beatles earned new Grammy nominations and received a win for the song “Now and Then,” which was finished and released last year by the band’s two surviving members.

The greatest accolade at every Grammy night is Album of the Year, and in a night-defining moment, Beyoncé received the award for the genre-bending album Cowboy Carter. The historic win comes after years of lost nominations in the category. Beyoncé also celebrated a win in the country category as the first Black woman in history to do so. She and Charli XCX tied with three wins, while Kendrick Lamar won the most of the evening, taking home five Grammys.

Doechii joined the ranks of just two female artists before her, Lauryn Hill and Cardi B, to win the award for Best Rap Album. Cardi B presented the award to Doechii for “Alligator Bites Never Heal.”

This was also a night to celebrate the meteoric rise of pop darlings like Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter. Chappell Roan won the award for Best New Artist, while Carpenter was awarded Best Pop Vocal for Short n’ Sweet. The award was presented by Anthony Kiedis and Chad Smith, members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and it was Carpenter’s first Grammy win.

Carpenter’s jazzy medley of “Espresso” and “Please Please Please” set the tone for the evening. The singer entered the stage in a glittery tuxedo dress that she soon ripped off to reveal a bedazzled blue bodysuit after a series of playful intentional errors, displaying Carpenter’s comedic charm in full force.

The 67th Grammy Awards were filled with a series of memorable performances and contentious wins, thus marking another big night in the music industry.
