Stevin Wallace, a senior at Quaker Valley, was part of this years 18 Under Eighteen, a program that highlights 18 students’ accomplishments under the age of 18. Stevin explains, “This is a program that connects student leaders with larger opportunities and commemorates them for their dedication to leadership, entrepreneurship, and helping their community.”
Stevin was recognized for founding and leading our school’s student GSA (Gay Straight Alliance). When asked more about their experience with the GSA, Stevin elaborated, “Being able to provide students with a space to advocate for themselves and connect with peers has been super rewarding. It’s been awesome!”
QV student, Izzie Murano participated in 18 under 18 last year, also doing work with environmental sustainability in our community.
As for students Pittsburgh wide; Grace Vensel created a store, Lulu’s Free Store, to provide free clothes to unhoused people to make the experience more dignified. Elijah Majocha focused on climate sustainability building a greenhouse at his school and connecting with local politicians.
